Fixing a black screen on your cloud desktop session

Most black screens clear up after a disconnect + reconnect, which forces the session to redraw the display from scratch.

Common causes

A black screen right after login is almost always caused by a graphics/display glitch in the Remote Desktop session, not data loss — your Tally data is safe.

Try these steps in order

  1. Wait 15–20 seconds — the desktop is often still loading after login.
  2. Resize the window — drag the RDP window edge slightly, or toggle full screen (Ctrl+Alt+Break), which forces a screen redraw.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect — close the Remote Desktop window and reconnect; this reloads the session without logging you out of Windows.
  4. Lower display quality — in Remote Desktop Connection, go to Show Options > Display and reduce color depth to 16-bit, then reconnect.

If the black screen persists after a reconnect, contact Fix24 support so we can restart your session from the server side.
